Character Information
Name // Tain Miyaki
Age // 28
Gender // Male
Student/Professor? // Professor, English & Japanese
Sexual Orientation // Bisexual
Appearance // From a distance, Tain may appear unremarkable. Medium height, muscular but not buff. His clothes (though expensive) might even appear a bit rumpled, not totally kept up, and his hair will probably be messy. He most likely will be smoking, and might additionally be hungover. You may guess that he was some kind of writer, but probably not a well-known one. You'd never guess he was a professor at Corealis University.
It's when you get closer that Tain begins to stand out a bit more. Come to find out that rumpled shirt was Armani, the car keys laying on the cafe table in front of him belong to a Porsche. His hair is an interesting shade of blonde- somewhere between sand and golden colored, and his eyes, interestingly enough, are a brown so light they appear golden like his hair. Though it's really merely a lack of pigment, it gives Tain a rather intimidating, off-putting glare. His name is Japanese, but his features only show a hint of that nationality; he looks primarily Caucasian. He almost never smiles, but is rather handsome in his harshness. Certainly the readers of his books think that his photo on the back covers are something to swoon about, and his readers include much of the world population of English and Japanese-speaking females.
Personality // If his appearance wasn't enough to reel someone in, his personality serves as a magnet (and remember, magnets can pull each other in or just as strongly repel others!). To put it more acurrately, he gives off that bad-boy vibe. Some dig it, some hate it. His manner in dealing with people is gruff, and the only agenda Miyaki really cares about is his own. He is almost uneccesarily blunt. If he thinks one of his students isn't quite cut out for writing, he does not hesitate to tell them so. He has actually been accused of encouraging students to drop his classes.
However, if you can stick with him long enough to get used to it, Tain might actually get to like you. He might actually start being... nice. Caring, even. He might not show it all the time. In fact, he will probably still be rude. But you can bet if you get to this point with him, you have gained a powerful and recklessly loyal ally.
History // Tain was born in Japan. His father was Japanese, and mother was American. However, his grandparents were fiercely nationalistic and insisted that he be given a proper Japanese name and raised in their country, despite his non-Japanese appearance. Tain loathed the restriction and defied them by becoming increasingly fluent in English.
During his college years, Tain began writing. His inital attempts only gained some vague interest with his professors. One commented that he was no better than a "dime-store romance novel author." Then, out of spite, he wrote his dark dime-store romance. It was a hit. His first best seller. Since then, he has made a good living for himself writing romance novels with a twist- the lover dies, one lover kills another, kidnappings, cheating, overall a poor outlook on love. Who would have thought that the women of the world would have loved it?
Finally he made his escape to America. Corealis is little more than a safeguard for him: he teaches at the university, and his publisher has little control over what he writes during that time. Teaching is not his forte, but Miyaki enjoys the freedom in his writing more than he loathes the indept students...
