Corealis University, located in upstate New York, is a top-rated private university. Ever since it first opened its doors to students in 1896, Corealis has had a history of fine academics, particuarly strong in the sciences, and has over the years produced several Nobel Prize winners.
Today, Corealis is a major research contributor, and one of the most exclusive colleges in America. Ivy League doesn't even begin to cover it. The admissions process is tough, only selecting those students with exceptional academic and personal merit. But who's to say an admissions board can't be bribed on a favorite son's behalf? Not us.
Some may say that Corealis students are snobby. It may be true of some, but the fact is that the student body is quite diverse, coming from all across the United States and even abroad. While the majority of students are undergraduate, Corealis naturally has a highly sought-after graduate program.
Corealis has been honored by the U.S. Government this year with an immense task: Project Maxwell. Code for study and care of a live specimen of a highly controversial new humanoid species. Its origin is uncertain, and intelligence immense but interwoven with a strong animalistic instinct. It has abilities that push the limits of understood science. The popular media supports the general public's opinions and fears by calling this rare and captivating specimen "The Demon."
Certainly this event boosted Corealis's applications for admission this year, from morbid curiousity if nothing else. Other students didn't like the way Project Maxwell looked for one reason or another and transferred. Then there are those who could care less. It wouldn't be the first time the government has trusted Corealis with some major reasearch. Why should this be any different?
Under which category do you fall? Will you try whatever you can to get involved with Project Maxwell, for the sake of science (or your own personal benefit)? Do you think Corealis has bitten off more than it can chew? Or are you just struggling toward your degree, nevermind what the scientists are doing over in Bridge Laboratories?
